Topics covered: Finishing up implementation of GUI to control the AQ6370D

For this week the goal was to start implementing the GUI such that the code and the buttons will have some aspect to them. The current GUI is setup as shown in Figure 1. The file has three main buttons to open the device, execute whatever setup has been decided, and to close the device. The file also has two more buttons on the right. One of the two buttons displays the absorption spectrum while the other button will display the absorption lines of acetylene as shown in Figure 2. The final field is a blank edit text which will be implemented to display the concentration of the substance based off of the absorption spectra.

The last part of the GUI that needs to be implemented is changing the commands of the spectrometer from the GUI and not from the general MatLab code. Since this is not ready the three buttons on top as well of the 5 pull down buttons do not handle any case yet. However, they are coded and will be finished by next week as well so the GUI can input the data in real time.

I had also begun installing the necessary drivers and I/O programs to properly connect my computer with the spectrometer, however there was a small error with downloading of the driver which I hope to finish by next week as well.

Plan for next week:

1) Fix visa timeout errors on GPIB connection.

2) Complete GUI remote connectivity.

3) Analyze absorption lines for different absorption spectra.

4) Set up Ethernet connectivity to compare/contrast with GPIB.
